Cleaning and Disinfection of V3 Breast Pump

Cleanliness of pump components directly prevents bacterial contamination of breast milk and protects infant health. Follow these rules before first use and after every pumping session:
• Wash all milk-contact parts thoroughly before first use and after each pumping session.
• The main pump motor unit contains electrical components. Never immerse it in water or any liquid. Wipe the exterior only with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dry immediately.
• Tubing does not come into contact with breast milk under normal operation. If milk enters the tubing, disconnect and replace it. Do not wash or reuse a tube that has milk.
• Do not use abrasive cleaners, bleach, or antibacterial chemicals on any parts.
• Inspect all silicone and plastic parts before each use for cracks, tears, discoloration, or aging. Replace damaged parts immediately.
• Pre-clean preparation step: Scrub hands thoroughly with soap and running water for a full 20 seconds before disassembling or handling pump components. How to disassembly the pump, please refer to:Disassembly and Installation of V3 Breast Pump

1.Disinfect Milk-Contact Parts

All milk-contact silicone/ plastic pieces require hand washing only; dishwasher safety has not been verified for this device.

Non-washable parts:Main Pump Motor Unit,Tubing

Washable parts:Flange,Milk Collector ,Duckbill Valve

Step 1: Hand Washing

Required supplies: Baby-safe dish soap, drinking-quality warm water, dedicated infant cleaning basin, soft bottle brush, lint-free paper towels.

  1. Rinse disassembled parts under running warm/cold water immediately after pumping to dissolve residual milk (do not let milk dry onto surfaces).
  2.  Place all pieces into a dedicated baby cleaning basin (do not wash directly in kitchen sink drains, which harbor bacteria).

  3. Soak components in 40–60°C (104–140°F) soapy water for 3–5 minutes.
  4. Scrub all inner and outer surfaces completely with a soft baby bottle brush.
  5. Rinse thoroughly under clean running drinking water until no soap residue remains.
  6. Lay all parts flat on unused paper towels in a dust-free, dry area to air-dry fully. Do not rub dry with cloth towels (fabric transfers bacteria).

  7. Clean the wash basin and brush after every use. For infants under 3 months, premature babies, or immunocompromised infants, sanitize the basin / brush after each wash cycle.

WARNING

Do not use abrasive scrubbers or antibacterial cleaners — these damage silicone and leave toxic residue in contact with breast milk.

Step 2: Disinfection (Required at least once daily)

CAUTION

Boiling water disinfection is the only approved method for this pump’s milk-contact components. Microwave and UV sterilizers will deform silicone parts and shorten service life.DO NOT MICROWAVE.

  1. Fill a clean household pot with enough drinking water to fully submerge all disassembled parts.
  2. Place components in the pot, ensuring no silicone/plastic pieces touch the hot metal pot walls.
  3. Bring water to a rolling boil and maintain boiling for 5–10 minutes.

  1. Remove sanitized parts using clean tongs only.

  1. Lay flat on paper towels to air-dry completely before storage.

Step 3: Dry Storage

1. Confirm all components are 100% air-dried (moisture causes mold and bacterial growth).
2. Wash hands with soap before reassembling dry parts.
3. Store fully assembled clean pump sets inside a closed, dust-free kitchen cabinet reserved exclusively for infant feeding supplies.

2.Wipe Down Non-Milk Components

• Main pump motor unit: Wipe with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not allow liquid to enter the tubing ports.

• Power adapter: Wipe with a dry cloth only. Ensure the adapter is unplugged and fully dry before use.

• Tubing: Wipe exterior with a dry cloth. Do not wash the interior. Replace if milk enters or if the tubing becomes cracked, deformed, or discolored.

Supplies Needed:70% isopropyl alcohol wipes, soft lint-free cloth

Surface Cleaning Process

  1. Wash and sanitize your hands first.
  2. Wipe away all visible milk residue or dirt on the motor housing with a dry soft cloth.
  3. Swab all exterior surfaces with 70% alcohol wipes until no stains remain.
  4. Leave the unit at room temperature for 10 minutes to fully evaporate alcohol residue before use.

Deep Disinfection Wipe

  1. Complete the surface cleaning steps above.
  2. Dampen a soft cloth with 70% isopropanol and gently wipe the motor shell for 3 full minutes.
  3. Air-dry at room temperature for 10 minutes to eliminate all alcohol residue.
